Emdeon continues acquisition streak

Despite economic downturn, rev. cycle firm keeps on buying

Even in an economic slowdown, some companies are still able to buy. Such is the case with local revenue cycle management outfit Emdeon which today announced the acquisition of eRx Networks.

That company, which has offices in Texas and North Carolina, provides various electronic transaction applications to the retail pharmacy industry such as third-party claims management, electronic prescribing, intelligent routing services, and others.

Going forward the combined operation will be called eRx Network, an Emdeon Company.

As it has with its previous acquisitions in the last year, Emdeon said this deal was aimed at increasing its offerings to customers.

This is the second acquisition for Emdeon in the last two months. In early May the company purchased the The Sentinel Group, which offers fraud and abuse management services. Back in September the company purchased the GE Healthcare Information Technology patient statement business.

The financial terms of today’s deal were not disclosed.
