ECD team to travel to Far East this fall

Japan meeting to be followed by nine days in PRC

Tennessee’s economic-development team will visit Japan and China for two weeks this fall, building on the state’s extensive ties with the East Asian countries.

China and Japan are the Volunteer State’s third- and fourth-largest trading partners. The state’s representatives will attend a Tokyo meeting between Southeastern states and Japanese officials before spending nine days in China, visiting Beijing, Xian, Hangzhou and Hong Kong.

“We continue to have strong interest in Tennessee from China,” said ECD Commissioner Matt Kisber. “As the Chinese economy, especially its consumer markets, continues to expand, we want Tennessee companies to benefit and our mission is designed to raise awareness of Tennessee products.”
