AmSurg lures CHS exec to replace Harrell
AmSurg has named Phillip Clendenin its new senior vice president of corporate services. The 44-year-old will take the role now held by Royce Harrell, who will retire in June after almost two decades in executive roles at the surgery center company.
Clendenin will join Nashville-based AmSurg from Community Health Systems, where he was CEO of the 370-bed River Region Health System in Vicksburg, Miss. Previously, he was in management at Triad Hospitals, HCA and National Medical Enterprises. He holds a bachelor’s in business from UT-Martin and a master’s in health administration from Washington University School of Medicine.
Shares of AmSurg (Ticker: AMSG) closed Monday trading at $20.39, up more than 4 percent on the day. They’re down about 24 percent in the past six months.
