Psych Solutions expands services to military

Eight hospitals to serve as support hubs

Psychiatric Solutions is ramping up its offerings catering to military personnel and their families, a group increasingly struggling with the mental impact of multiple tours of duty.

The company isn't disclosing the value of its investment in PSI Patriot Support, but said the program will launch with eight Psych Solutions hospitals – including two in Kentucky – acting as support centers. Others will be added over time.

"We are honored to be a resource to the military, and our goal is to be an efficient, effective supplement to the military’s own excellent resources when it is appropriate for us to do so," said Chairman, President and CEO Joey Jacobs.

Franklin-based Psych Solutions runs about 100 hospitals in more than 30 states. The company's shares (Ticker: PSYS) have fallen about 25 percent in 2009.
