Ex-Gresham head joins new firm

Industry veteran had run his own consulting shop for seven years

Former Gresham Smith & Partners boss Gary Hunt has joined another regional engineering firm as a principal and strategic consultant.

Hunt, who was Gresham's chairman and CEO for over a decade, has begun his work at the Nashville office of Florence & Hutcheson Inc. Since leaving Gresham in 2002, Hunt has worked at his own consulting firm, The Hunt Group. In his new position, Hunt will take a leadership role on both private and government projects.

“I am excited to be working with an organization so committed to client service, engineering excellence and market dominance,” Hunt said in a release. “Florence & Hutcheson's depth of experience and comprehensive range of capabilities provides an excellent platform for expanding services in Tennessee and other growing markets throughout the country.”

Founded 44 years ago in Paducah, Ky., Florence & Hutcheson now runs 17 offices across the Southeast – two of them in Middle Tennessee – and employs about 300 people.
