Metro councilman elected to lead statewide organization
Metro Councilmember Greg Adkins has been elected president of the Tennessee County Services Association, a statewide organization representing county mayors, legislative bodies and highway officials.
Adkins was officially named to the position Oct. 9 during the association’s Annual Fall Conference & Trade Show in Hamilton County. He has served as a TCSA vice president for the past two years and will serve as president until October 2010.
In his second term on Metro Council, Adkins serves as executive director of the Tennessee Public Transportation Association. Prior to that, he worked as a clerk and legislative aide with the Tennessee House of Representatives as well as a policy research analyst for the House. He has also served as legislative services manager for the state Department of Transportation.
Adkins becomes the first Davidson County official to hold the position of TCSA president since Mayor Beverly Briley, who was the first ever president of the organization in 1954.
