Another candidate enters District 18 race

Durbin's former campaign treasurer jumps in the fray

The District 18 Metro Council race has another candidate for the March 26 special election to replace Keith Durbin.

Stephenie Dodson, the after-school programs coordinator and summer camp director at Percy Priest Elementary School, has taken steps to be the fourth candidate in the race. Dodson joins attorney John Ray Clemmons, Rural Development Agency communications director David Glasgow and Belmont professor Kristine LaLonde.

Dodson served as the treasurer for Durbin’s 2007 Metro Council campaign. Durbin resigned on Jan. 5 to become Metro's chief information officer. Durbin’s partner, Gary Bynum, is serving as the treasurer for Dodson’s campaign.

The special election will take place on March 26, with a run-off between the top two vote-getters scheduled for a later date if one of the candidates does not earn more than 50 percent.
