Circuit Court vacancy draws 10

Metro councilman among those seeking to fill bench vacancy that came about with the retirement of Judge Walter Kurtz

Just a short while ago, the deadline passed for attorneys wishing to apply for a vacancy on the 20th Judicial District Circuit Court. The vacancy was created upon the retirement of longtime jurist Walter Kurtz.

Earlier this week, the deadline passed for those seeking a seat on the Chancery Court that opened up when Gov. Phil Bredesen elevated Judge Richard Dinkins to the Tennessee Court of Appeals.

In both the Chancery and Circuit Court vacancies, Bredesen will appoint from three nominees selected from the applicants by the Tennessee Judicial Selection Commission. Some indviduals applied for both slots, hoping to improve their odds of making the cut.

Among the applicants for the Circuit Court position is Metro Councilman Mike Jameson. Jameson is a partner in the Nashville law firm of North, Pursell, Ramos & Jameson, PLC.
