Deadline to don a judicial robe imminent

Applications to fill judicial seats in Chancery and Circuit courts loom; here's a list of who has applied

If you want to wear a robe in public and not get laughed at, you better get your application in either today or Wednesday, depending on where you want to wear that robe.

Today is the deadline to fill the vacancy on Davidson County Chancery Court created by the elevation of Judge Richard Dinkins to the Tennessee Court of Appeals. However, if you'd like to be a Circuit Court Judge, you have until close of business Wednesday to turn in an application. A vacancy was created in that court upon the retirement of Judge Walter Kurtz.

Applicants must turn in forms to Tennessee's Administrative Office of the Courts, which will then be reviewed by the Tennessee Judicial Selection Commission. You can apply for both jobs if you like – several folks already have – but the deadline for the Chancery slot is 4:30 today.
