Airport delays part of construction work
Rental-car project on hold
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority this morning said it has broken ground on a roadway improvement project but postponed work on a central rental-car facility.
MNAA officials attributed their decision to "challenging economic times, bond market instability and increased materials and labor costs." There is no new starting date for the project, which is slated to rise in the airport's long-term parking lot.
The roadway improvements, which are being funded by passenger fees and state airport funds, will take a year and realign parts of the terminal ring road, primarily eliminating the need to merge across lanes.
