People: Louisiana Pacific lawyer joins defense bar board
The Defense Research Institute — also known as DRI, The Voice of the Defense Bar — has named named Louisiana-Pacific Associate General Counsel Laura Proctor to its national board of directors.
DRI, with 22,000 member attorneys, is the nation's largest group of defense lawyers working for corporations and law firms. Proctor was named to the board during DRI's annual meeting in October.
Proctor is former chairperson of DRI's Alternative Dispute Resolution and Young Lawyer Committees.
In a release from LP this afternoon, Proctor said, "I am excited for the opportunity to serve in this role within DRI, and thankful that LP supports me in this role as well as the great work at DRI."
At Nashville-based LP, Proctor oversees and manages litigation, focusing on product liability, employment law and general tort matters.
The announcement of Proctor's appointment was made today by Mark Fuchs, who is LP's general counsel and a vice president.
Proctor, 46, earned her J.D. in 1992 at the University of Alabama School of Law, where she earlier earned her bachelor's degree.
