GEC to lose CMT Flameworthy awards to another local venue
Already operating in the red and now facing cutbacks from Metro Government, the Gaylord Entertainment Center recently had to turn away from its door a top grossing event, the annual CMT “Flameworthy” music video awards, in deference to a different event that may not even materialize.
The Vanderbilt Hustler reported earlier this week that due to the possibility that the arena’s primary tenant, the Nashville Predators, could still be playing playoff hockey come April 21, CMT Productions was forced to seek out a different venue for its third annual video awards show. According to the Hustler, CMT has selected Memorial Gym on the campus of Vanderbilt University as the new site of the live broadcast, which reached over eight million viewers last year.
