Atlanta hospital entrepreneur McAfee dies

James McAfee Jr., former chairman and president of Hallmark Healthcare Corp., died Wednesday in an Atlanta hospital after suffering a heart attack, according to Modern Healthcare.

McAfee was 65. He led Hallmark from 1987 to 1994. Following a restructuring, McAfee sold several Hallmark hospitals to Brentwood-based Community Health Systems about a decade ago. His health care career also included the CEO and chairman post of ValueMark Healthcare Systems, executive vice president of Charter Medical Corp. in Macon, Ga., and senior vice president at Hospital Affiliates International, leading its Eastern division.
