Three Nashville-based companies -- all of them in the health care industry -- made BusinessWeek’s 2003 Hot Growth List. One hundred companies were ranked by their three-year results in sales growth, earnings growth, and return on invested capital.

Dialysis provider Renal Care Group Inc. (RCI) ranked No. 40. The company’s three year average increase in sales was 20.3 percent, while its three year average increase in profits 26.3 percent, and its three year average return on invested capital 13.4 percent.

Disease management company American Healthways Inc. (AMHC) ranked No. 61. The Burton Hills-based company’s three year average increase in sales was 35.5 percent, and its three year average increase in profits 91.1 percent and its three year average return on invested capital 6 percent.

AmSurg Corp. (AMSG) ranked No. 68. The surgery center company’s three average increase in sales was 35.9 percent, its three year average increase in profits 51.8 percent and its three year average return on invested capital 6.8 percent.
