Over on Pith, there's an email discussion among influential Democrats wondering who in the heck their nominee for governor really is. And Roy Herron is apparently on the hot seat for this, a la the Mark Clayton affair that took down Chip Forrester. Is that Mary Mancini's music we hear for state party chair?
Sen. Roy Herron took a tumble off his bike:
The Dresden Democrat told WCMT radio in Martin he was training for the triathlon Sunday when he made what he called about 80 degrees of a 90-degree turn and crashed.
Herron went to the hospital with a broken collar bone, broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung. He was released from the hospital Monday and went home to Dresden to recuperate for a few days. He hoped to return to Nashville on Wednesday. He says the crash was his own fault.
Don't worry. Roy Herron thought the breastfeeding debate was a little strange, too:
“I’m afraid the abnormal psychology classes are going to be studying [the committee’s proceedings] if we don’t move on pretty soon,” Sen. Roy Herron, D-Dresden, complained as the debate continued. “This legislation, if adopted, will provide a mother has a right to breastfeed her child. It’s only her child. It’s not any child, and it’s not anybody else.”
“I feel like all of us, we were weaned too soon and we’re obsessed with it,” he added. “Let’s just move on.”
