Hospital medicine provider Cogent HMG has signed a contract with a North Carolina hospital system to take over the hospitalist program at its main 435-bed hospital. The program at Gaston Memorial Hospital will be home to more than 20 doctors and four mid-level providers.

Hospitalist program operator Cogent HMG has begun providing its services at a 65-bed East Texas hospital, a deal that builds on the recent move by longtime client Christus St. Michael's, which is based in nearby Texarkana, to take over Atlanta Memorial Hospital.

Hospital medicine venture Cogent HMG said it has been chosen to run an intensive care program at the 395-bed Saint Francis Hospital in Delaware. Cogent's Intensivist Group division — which it bought last summer — is running the program at Saint Francis, which is part of the Catholic Health East network.
