After fewer than two weeks with Cleveland, Vince Young looking for work once again

That didn’t take long.

Vince Young is out of a job once again. The Cleveland Browns announced that they cut the former Tennessee Titans quarterback and four others Monday, two days after the completion of the NFL draft. The Browns selected Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel with their first-round pick Thursday.

Young signed with the Browns on May 1 following a tryout during a three-day voluntary minicamp.

That same day they signed veteran backup Tyler Thigpen, who beat out Young for a job at Buffalo two years ago. Thigpen was not among the players cut Monday.

Cleveland is now the third straight team that had Young on its offseason roster but elected not to keep him for the regular season. At least the last two, Buffalo and Green Bay, took an extended look at him through training camp and the preseason.

For those who hope the third overall pick and offensive rookie of the year in 2006 eventually resurrects his career, that possibility seems less and less likely as each opportunity comes and goes – and goes quickly in this case.
