Matthews ends long AP All-America drought for Vanderbilt's offense

Vanderbilt wide receiver Jordan Matthews became the school’s first offensive player in more than half a century to earn Associated Press All-American football honors.

The SEC’s all-time leading receiver was named to the third team Tuesday, the same day Sports Illustrated named him a second-team All-American. (Tackle Wesley Johson earned honorable mention recoginition from the publication).

Cornerback D.J. Moore (2008) and linebacker Jamie Duncan (1997) each were second-team All-America by the AP. Vanderbilt’s last offensive player to make the list was guard George Diederich, a first-team selection in 1951.
