Poile pushes assistant for Buffalo's GM job

The name of Predators assistant general Paul Fenton is frequently bandied about when a GM job comes open in the NHL.

The current opening in Buffalo is no different.

This time, his boss is among those pushing him for the job.

In an interview with Ottawa's TSN1200 — which can be heard here — Poile said he's reached out to Buffalo to suggest they give his assistant a chance:

I've reached out to Buffalo to suggest it would be in their best interest to interview Paul and they're going to get back in due course. Paul has put in all of his time. ... I can't think of a guy who's never had a GM job that's more qualified than Paul. ... It could be a terrific situation for buffalo with all their draft picks.

Fenton is regarded as the architect of Nashville's draft strategy. Buffalo has nine picks in the 2014 NHL Draft.
