Chris Devaney says he'll seek another term as TNGOP chair.
Dear State Executive Committee Members:
I hope you are doing well, and it was good to see many of you at our election night watch party in Nashville.
This week in Tennessee, Republicans made history once again. Mitt Romney won the state by more than 20 points, the largest margin ever for a Republican. Senator Bob Corker won his re-election effort, we maintained the 7-2 ratio in our Congressional delegation, and, for the first time in our state’s history, Republicans won super majorities in both the State House and State Senate.
These wins were due to the fact that Republicans have a superior message, great volunteers and donors, good candidates, and a Republican Party that works well with our elected leadership. Our Party is strong because we have consistently had good leadership at the State Party and have built on the successes over the years.
That is why I am asking you for your support in my re-election as Chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party. Together, with the State Executive Committee, we have done some good things at the State Party. Our fundraising is strong and we continue to be on a firm financial footing. We have strengthened our by-laws, improved our county parties and have made our Republican voice known on the most important of issues. We worked closely with our College Republicans as they established a solid and comprehensive network of chapters across the state. We also utilized new technology to reach activists in a timely and effective way; and we streamlined our filing system at the Party headquarters by archiving documents electronically. Finally, we have recruited and cultivated some quality candidates and have directed many of them to victories in campaigns across the state.
While our team has had many successes, we also have some challenges over the next two years. Our super majorities in the General Assembly must not only be defended, but grown. We have two statewide offices up for election in 2014 and we will have mid-term Congressional races across the state. Finally, because our Tennessee Republican family has grown tremendously over the last few years, we must stay committed to our core principles rooted in the beliefs of individual responsibility, limited government, economic freedom and traditional values.
For all these reasons, I believe continuity is important at the Tennessee Republican Party for the next two years and that is why I ask for your support for another term as your Chairman. I look forward to discussing this with you over the next few weeks and to also get your thoughts on what you see as some of our challenges.
Thank you again for your friendship and I look forward to seeing you at our December meeting.
