Celebration of Moderation!

Days after he announced he will resign his leadership post but will seek re-election, Sen. Lamar Alexander is prepping for the run.

An invitation [PDF here] is making the rounds for a Sept. 30, $1,000 per person reception at Warner Music on Music Row. Among the honored guests are fellow Tennessean Bob Corker, but also six other Senators who wouldn't exactly make the list of Tea Party favorites: John Barrasso, Scott Brown, Orrin Hatch, Richard Lugar,  Olympia Snowe and Roger Wicker.

For what it's worth, the copy of the invite we've got is clearly pretty preliminary - the "Paid For" line is blank.

UPDATED (7:07 AM): This has indeed been confirmed as an early version of the invite. Sen. Corker will not be in attendance - one of his daughters is getting married that weekend. In addition to accusations of RINO-oscity, six other Senators on the invite have something else in common: all are up for re-election in 2012. Alexander will host a similar reception for the rest of the Class I Republican Senators running for re-election in 2012.

I hope Lamar is not looking

I hope Lamar is not looking for a lot of luv from the biz. He and Jim haven't "done us too proud."
