They ought to be "walking it back" starting with the bloated fleet of deputy and assistant commissioners, all who make a combined millions of dollars in salaries, travel, and expenses. Then give these jobs (at a decent salary) to hard working professionally minded young people who will stay with the state to build it, not live off it like barnacles.

The single largest faction of state employee increases during the Bredesen administration is in Pre K teachers. Pre K needs to be revamped and made available for low performing counties in terms of TCAP assessment scores. If a county is making the grade, it means they have involved parents and outstanding teachers.. Do they really need Pre K in every school? No.. The real question is, does the the soon to be Gov have the cohones to pull the trigger on education?
