Hollin off
Jamie Hollin is only spending two years on the Metro Council:
The 36-year-old attorney said Tuesday he won’t run for re-election next year and doesn’t aspire to higher office. Hollin led the community effort called “We the People,” which worked to force Murray out of office. The group claimed Murray was unresponsive to community concerns and criticized her support for an apartment development, which many neighbors opposed.
“I never anticipated being a candidate for office anyway,” Hollin said. “The reason I got involved to the level I did was because of things going on, taking power away from the people. The reason I wanted to get involved was to demonstrate for citizens the power in government indeed lies with the people.”

Who might Vice Mayor Diane
Who might Vice Mayor Diane Neighbors be chatting up to run even now?
Hopefully someone intelligent
Hopefully someone intelligent with the best interests of District 5 as their reason for running. Oh yeah, and the ability to get along with someone, anyone, other than a family member.
This is too bad. Some may
This is too bad. Some may not like his "populist punk" attitude - maybe it is just those that enjoy being the lapdog for the Mayor and the "go along to get along" herd mentality of the Council.
Hollin seemed effective, and a voice for District 5. His departure is a reflection of the over-sized Council - 40 members (5 at-large) plus a Vice mayor makes for a woefully ineffective group, giving virtually all the power to the Mayor (until the Fairgrounds issue).
I don't blame Hollin at all.
Jamie had the right reasons
Jamie had the right reasons for running for office and cleaned up a lot of messes in the 5th district. He just needed a lesson in building meaningful relationships to really help our district or perhaps another 20 years of living.
Anyone want to bet that
Anyone want to bet that Murray will run again and win? I really hope I don't have to deal with her and her race-baiting.
