Sex Crimes, Belle Meade and Metro Schools
The big story from Ken Whitehouse:
The investigation into Levine started March 25 when Metro Sex Crimes Detective Jeff Wiser received information from a concerned parent. After interviewing a number of individuals, including minors, Wiser was told of a building on Levine's property known as the "Little House." There, teenagers are alleged to have smoked marijuana, consumed alcohol and engaged in sexual activity.
Wiser also was informed that teenagers would have sex in the main house, where one room was known as the "Isolation Chamber." It contained a waterbed with a wooden box over it.
The information provided to Wiser came from present-day teenagers, as well as those who were teens in the 1970s and '80s. They all provided similar information in regard to sex and drug activity at Levine's home. Some of those individuals told of Levine videotaping sexual encounters, while others said they were shown what appeared to be homemade sex videos.

I am an eccentric science teacher in Nashville, TN. and have two cool kids,a boy and a girl. Most of the students I teach are avid myspace fans, so I am joining in.

Oh God, he goes to my
Oh God, he goes to my synagogue!
He used to work at the JCC
He used to work at the JCC summer camp, too. He was a really kind-hearted guy, and a very good teacher. His late dad was an awesome old Nashville macher, who would give us candy and comic books when we dropped by decades ago.
I wouldn't try to connect the dots between Louis' teaching and his alleged predelictions. It sounds less like he was preying on little kids and more that he may have had an unhealthy (not to mention illegal) obsession with older kids (16+). If the charges are true it's awful, and exploitative, but he was not setting some sort of child trap with his teaching and animal education-- of that I'm sure.
He was doing this kind of
He was doing this kind of stuff- filming kids- when I was in HS in the late 1980s. My HS friends who went to his house met him through his work at the Cumberland Science Museum- of that I'm sure.
i also remember louis from
i also remember louis from when i was growing up in the 80's. i went to camps where he would do programs. i even went to his house once though nothing inappropriate happened. i'm pretty sad to hear this as he was a very nice guy who loves nature but now he obviously wont get to spend any time in nature for a very very long time
I knew Louis a little bit. He
I knew Louis a little bit. He was a friend of my Mom, her siblings, and their parents since childhood. I once attended his science camp in the 90s, and there wasn't anything inappropriate going on. He was eccentric, an excellent teacher and truly loved his work. It is heartbreaking to hear of this side. He was a man who inspired a lot of people through his interest in nature. I feel so bad for everyone who now feels betrayed by what has been uncovered. My mom and her family is in shock, they had no idea.
