CHS approaches Penn. system about potential acquisition, joint venture

Community Health Systems has approached Pennsylvania hospital network Jameson Health System about a possible acquisition or joint venture, The Herald reports. The move comes just after Franklin-based CHS closed its deal for nearby Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Doug Danko, president and chief executive officer, said [April 2] that three "larger health systems" have reached out to Jameson, but no decisions have been made on what direction to take.

The other two organizations are the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, with which Jameson has clinical affiliations, and Highmark at Allegheny Health Network. Jameson Health System has 1,380 employees and includes Jameson Hospital's north and south campuses, Jameson Care Center, the Children's Advocacy Center and Jameson Medical Services.
