Gee named West Virginia University president

Former Vanderbilt University Chancellor Gordon Gee has been named permanent president at West Virginia University, according to multiple new reports. Gee — who stepped down as president at Ohio State University last July following anti-Catholic comments he claims he made in a playful manner prior to a football game between Ohio State and the University of Notre Dame — had been serving as WVU interim president since December. Known, in part, for his energy and a penchant for bow ties, Gee was VU president from July 2001 to August 2007.
