North Gulch redevelopment effort moves forward

North Charlotte Avenue Holdings LLC is seeking from Metro final plat approval to create five lots on various properties located within the 21.9-acre North Gulch site it plans to redevelop.

The Metro Planning Commission will vote on the request, filed Thursday by Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon Inc., on Feb. 27. The lots are located along 11th Avenue North, Jo Johnston Avenue, George L. Davis Boulevard, Nelson Merry Street, Gay Street, Shankland Street and Charlotte Avenue.

Northwestern Mutual Real Estate Investment and Boyle Investment Co. created North Charlotte Avenue Holdings for the redevelopment effort. The team has cleared the massive site of various nondescript buildings after assembling up to 30 parcels.

The mixed-use project, a start date for which has yet to be announced, is expected to include residential, office, retail and hotel buildings. Franklin-based Kiser Vogrin Design is crafting a master plan for the site.

Relatedly, HCA intends to have its Sarah Cannon Research Institute and Parallon headquarters located on 10.8 adjoining acres. (Read more here.)
