Germantown project developer makes strides in landing retailer

SWH Residential Partners could be close to announcing the retailer for its The Flats at Werthan Mills project now fully underway in Germantown.

John Tirrill, managing partner of the Atlanta-based company, said SWH has enlisted Nashville-based Urban Grout Commercial Real Estate to find a retailer, likely a restaurant/bar or cafe, for the site’s warehouse space. The vintage masonry building anchors the northwest corner of the T-intersection of Taylor Street and Fifth Avenue North. The building (seen below in an image courtesy of Google Maps) fronts Fifth across from Morgan Park Place.

"We’re woking on leasing the building at Fifth and Taylor," he said, noting Urban Grout is talking to prospective tenants but declining to offer details. "We’re making progress, and I would hope we would make announcement by the end of the year.

The Flats at Werthan Mills will feature 282 apartments and carry a price tag of approximately $40 million. The development will serve as an anchor, of sorts, in the part of Germantown that transitions to Salemtown to the north.
