Angela Woodroof, who recently had her Vanderbilt University Medical Center pharmacy technician position terminated, has filed a federal lawsuit claiming the university violated the Family and Medical Leave Act in dismissing her. Woodroof's legal action follows this week's move by a group of prominent local attorneys, who announced their investigation of more than 300 VUMC layoffs. Emily Kubis and The City Paper have the story here.
The suit claims Woodroof had never been counseled or reprimanded for her work, but following her use of leave, her supervisors issued a negative job evaluation and told her for the first time she was difficult to work with.
