Franklin-based recording label Naxos of America has announced an exclusive U.S. distribution deal with Outhere Music Group, a production company and independent music publisher based in Belgium.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Outhere’s records and digital products cover a repertoire ranging from ancient to contemporary and classical music, jazz and world music. The music group publishes more than 100 recordings a year.
“Outhere focuses on working with great artists and ensembles, but is also keen to invest in the development of young talent,” Naxos said in a news release. “The group aims to perpetuate a great editorial tradition: the responsibility of artistic choice, without regard to purely commercial clichés and full commitment to artists and the projects that are selected for recordings.”
Founded in 1991, Naxos of America bills itself as the No. 1 independent classical music distributor in the U.S. and Canada. The company distributes more than 35,000 titles on CD and DVD to traditional retail, stores and approximately 40,000 albums to hundreds of digital download and mobile outlets worldwide.
