It was a big day Monday for several of the top executives at Louisiana-Pacific, who traveled to New York City to ring the opening bell at the Big Board to commemorate the company's 40th birthday. LP was spun out of Georgia-Pacific in the first few days of 1973 and has helped develop the market for oriented strand board and other engineered wood products that are stronger than regular building materials. The company moved its headquarters to Nashville from Oregon in 2004.
