Anesthesia school hires simulation director
The Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia has recruited Maria Overstreet to be its director of center for clinical simulation, which places students in clinical situations they could find in real operating rooms.
Overstreet has more than two decades of nursing and education experience. She is an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University’s School of Nursing and runs simulation consulting business.
“Dr. Overstreet’s extensive experience creating and administering simulation programs will better prepare MTSA students to face the array of scenarios they may face while working with patients,” said Dr. Kenneth Schwab, president of MTSA. “We’re excited to have her as part of our team.”
Overstreet was most recently project director for the Tennessee Simulation Alliance, which is funded by the Tennessee Center for Nursing. She also has taught in the schools of nursing at King College and Belmont University, was orientation coordinator and in-house educator at Nashville General Hospital and manager of clinical education at HCA.
