Zagat ranks Etch Nashville's top restaurant

There is a reason that Etch is packed at 8:30 on Monday nights.

Officials with the SoBro-based restaurant and bar announced today their culinary creation has been selected Nashville’s No. 1 restaurant in Zagat’s America’s Top Restaurants 2014.

Etch captured a near-perfect rating (food: 28, décor: 27, service: 27), according to a release.

Zagat describes the Etch menu as an “array of flavor, texture and olfactory experiences” that are “worth savoring.” The review notes prices “reasonable for the quality” and mentions a helpful staff and entertaining atmosphere with a view of the open kitchen.

A list of “20 Top-Rated Restaurants Across America” was also compiled and ranks Etch favorably with perennial favorites like Le Bernardin in New York City and Joël Robuchon in Las Vegas.

In addition, and earlier this year, Zagat named Nashville one of its “7 Up-and-Coming Food Cities Around the U.S.,” noting “incredible creative talents, accessibility to locally-made products, and an exciting energy surrounding the city.”

Etch is led by partners Doug Hogrefe, Deb Paquette (who serves as chef) and Paul Schramkowski. The restaurant opened in August 2012 in the Encore condominium building.

More than 224,000 diners in 36 major markets voted in Zagat’s annual survey, ranking their picks of the best food, décor and service among 1,478 restaurants.
