U.S. attorney looking into some LifePoint heart procedures

LifePoint Hospitals has told the Department of Justice that one of its physicians may not have played it straight with some cardiology procedures at two of its facilities. In its latest quarterly report with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company says it made a voluntary self-disclosure to the Civil Division of the DOJ in the middle of September. Shortly after, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the district where one of these hospitals is located served a subpoena for more information. LifePoint officials, who didn't specify where the hospitals are, say they are cooperating with the investigation.
