The average per-gallon price of regular gas in Tennessee was $3.18 as of yesterday, an increase of six cents compared to the figure from the previous week, according to AAA.
In comparison, the national average price was $3.30, a one-cent per-gallon increase. Similarly, Georgia’s per-gallon average of $3.32 rose seven cents.
Locally, the average per-gallon price of regular gas in Nashville was $3.17 as of yesterday, an increase of six cents compared to the figure from the previous week. (See chart below.)
Currently, oil prices are at $93.09 a barrel, $2.29 more than the mark from the week prior., AAA reports.
"Oil prices will likely remain between $90 and $95 a barrel in January, with gas prices inching up again this week,” Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, The Auto Club Group, said in a release. "Although the average for the start of January was the highest on record, the Energy Information Administration forecasts the annual average this year will be less than 2012's annual average of $3.60.”
