Without some substantial rain in the coming days, Army Corps of Engineers officials will have to close the mighty Mississippi River to barge traffic. Such a move would hurt the business of locally based Ingram Barge and work its way up the Ohio and Cumberland rivers. But observers say some of the goods that couldn't make it to the Gulf of Mexico via water would be transported instead by road or rail.
