The average per-gallon price of regular gas in Tennessee was $3.18 as of yesterday, an increase of one cent compared to the figure from the previous week, according to AAA.
In comparison, the national average price was $3.34, a four-cent per-gallon increase. More specifically, and to compare, Georgia’s per-gallon average of $3.32 increased two cents.
Locally, the average per-gallon price of regular gas in Nashville was $3.17 as of yesterday, unchanged compared to the figure from the previous week. (See chart below.)
Currently, oil prices stand at $95.88 a barrel, 32 cents more than the mark from the week prior, AAA reports.
"Oil prices are on an upswing right now and gas prices are starting to follow suit,” Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, The Auto Club Group, said in a release. "Although motorists shouldn't see too much fluctuation in gas prices at the moment, prices are sure to rise in March. So far this year, we have not seen record-breaking pump prices and the cost for a gallon of gas remains below year-ago levels.”
