Tennessee's per-gallon gas price average decreases 3 cents

The average per-gallon price of regular gas in Tennessee was $3.17 as of yesterday, a decrease of three cents compared to the figure from the previous week, according to AAA.

In comparison, the national average price was $3.30, a one-cent per-gallon decrease. More specifically, and to compare, Georgia’s per-gallon average of $3.30 decreased three cents.

Locally, the average per-gallon price of regular gas in Nashville was $3.17 as of yesterday, a decrease of two cents compared to the figure from the previous week. (See chart below.)

Currently, oil prices stand at $95.56 a barrel, $2 more than the mark from the week prior, AAA reports.

"Demand for gasoline remains low and will likely decrease in the coming weeks as winter progresses, flu season worsens, and the tax increase hits worker paychecks,” Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, The Auto Club Group, said in a release. "Motorists could see gas prices drop another 3 to 5 cents this week.”
