The average per-gallon price of regular gas in Tennessee was $3.20 as of yesterday, an increase of two cents compared to the figure from the previous week, according to AAA.
In comparison, the national average price was $3.31, a one-cent per-gallon increase. Similarly, Georgia’s per-gallon average of $3.33 rose one cent.
Locally, the average per-gallon price of regular gas in Nashville was $3.19 as of yesterday, an increase of two cents compared to the figure from the previous week. (See chart below.) Currently, oil prices are at $93.56 a barrel, 47 cents more than the mark from the week prior, AAA reports.
"Gas prices are expected to average less this year because of lower demand and increased domestic oil production,” Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, The Auto Club Group, said in a release. "While gas is forecast to cost less this year, motorists will see prices inch up in the short term, before they stabilize and/or retreat.”
