RJ Young buys in Chattanooga

Office equipment marketer RJ Young has acquired Chattanooga IT consultants and hardware and software resellers Preferred Computers.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition is effective immediately and will add six people to RJ Young's team of more than 450. Preferred Computers employees will continue to work under their brand name while RJ Young will handle sales, supplies and backroom office infrastructure.

“IT services fit into our core competencies and are a natural transition to a services led organization. As our products have developed along with the technology that is available to our customers, we find ourselves more and more involved with our customers’ networks,” said Chip Crunk, president and CEO of RJ Young, which runs 18 locations in five states.
