Trucking companies that made it out of the recession and through the last three years of so-so growth are likely to stick around, say analyst Donald Broughton and his team at Avondale Partners. Failures of trucking companies are at all-time lows, they point out, but that doesn't necessarily mean the industry is healthy: Broughton recently trimmed his forecast for Q3 trucking tonnage year-over-year growth to 2.1 percent and sees that number turning negative by 1.9 percent in the fourth quarter. Not a good omen for the holiday shopping season...
