CHS links part of top execs' pay to stock price
Community Health Systems filed papers this week detailing how part of the cash bonuses of CEO Wayne Smith and CFO Larry Cash will now be linked to the performance of CHS shares versus a group of its hospital peers. Depending on how the stock does, bonus payments could be cut by up to 10 percent. CHS shareholders this spring easily voted down the company's executive compensation plans — the vote was not binding — after major proxy advisory firms voiced concerns about their size and an "aspirational" peer group that included J.C. Penney and General Mills.
