Virginia-based Hilb Group has acquired local insurance brokerage MDM Covenant, which specializes in the restaurant sector. Terms of the deal for the four-year-old venture are not being made public, but MDM's eight-person staff will stay on to help build Hilb's Southeastern footprint. Local multi-industry entrepreneur Farzin Ferdowsi, whose main business venture is a chain of fast-food eateries around the region, acquired a stake in MDM in 2009 and chairs the company's board.
