Gee gets flak for Ohio State travel spending

Former Vanderbilt University Chancellor Gordon Gee is in some hot water in Ohio, where Dayton Daily News reporters and editors — after some seven months of waiting — have detailed his travel spending in recent years. Since 2008, Ohio State University spent an average of $250,000 per year on Gee's travel, which included 2011 trips to China, Iceland and Turkey, among others.

The travel costs far exceeded what Ohio’s two governors during that time spent, and was about three times the amount spent by University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman, who holds a comparable position to Gee.
