CCA faces OT suit in Kentucky
A group of Corrections Corp. of America shift supervisors has sued the company seeking unspecified damages and a temporary injunction forcing the prison manager to pay them for overtime worked. Damages could be calculated back to 2007 for the workers, which Nashville-based CCA has classified as exempt. The case may soon have a blueprint for a quick resolution.
The lawsuit is similar to a suit filed in federal court in Kansas that sought to certify a class of assistant shift supervisors at CCA’s 65 facilities in 19 states. In that case, assistant shift supervisors alleged that CCA misclassified them as exempt from overtime pay. The two sides have filed a notice of settlement in court, but the details of the agreement are not due to a judge until Friday.
