Texas-based Ashford Hospitality Trust said it has closed on a $113 million loan that is secured by downtown's Renaissance Hotel and one of its properties in New Jersey. The move lowers Ashford's interest rate and frees up almost $30 million for capital spending. The REIT teamed up in early 2011 with Prudential Real Estate Investors to acquire the Renaissance and 27 other hotels.
