Belmont students win international competition

A group of Belmont University students have won the 2012 Enactus World Cup champions in an international entrepreneurship competition in Washington, D.C.

Represented at the event were 38 countries, 1,600 universities and 57,000 students. The Belmont team, formerly known as Belmont SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) until SIFE Worldwide announced its new name as Enactus (entrepreneurship, action and “us”), was led by Dr. Pat Raines, dean and technical support coordinator of BU’s College of Business Administration.

“Our students, faculty and community leaders have accomplished something extraordinary,” Raines told the Post via phone.

Belmont President Bob Fisher called the championship “a big deal.”

“A world championship is huge,” Fisher said in a release. “I couldn’t be more proud of our faculty, leadership and, especially, these absolutely amazing students.”
