Health Information Partnership elects board members

The Health Information Partnership of Tennessee — the organization working to create a statewide health information exchange — has elected Dr. Robert Mandel, senior vice president of health care services for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, its new chairman of the board.

Mandel replaces Robert Gordon, executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Baptist Memorial Health Care.

In addition, HIP TN elected Dr. Reginald Coopwood, former CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Hospital Authority and current CEO of the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, as its vice chair. Dr. B.W. Ruffner of the Tennessee Medical Association was elected treasurer and Patrick Willard, advocacy director of AARP in Tennessee, is secretary.

The nonprofit organization is currently reviewing proposals to identify the state's health information exchange vendor.
